Warrior Mom; Jean

Jean's Story

Jean will admit that she wasn't the best mom that she could have been to her own children. She made some bad choices and her kids suffered slightly at times because of this. We all make mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20 unfortunately. However, with age comes wisdom, patience, and everything else that makes us grow to be better as the years go on.

Jean was retired and supposed to be enjoying her golden years when in an unexpected twist of fate, her granddaughter came to live with her. Jean welcomed her with open arms despite the inconvenience that it would inevitably be. She had already raised her children. This was supposed to be her time. Only she didnt look at it like that. She only saw a little girl who needed a home. She knew that her home would be a great fit.

The situation was only supposed to be temporary. Just until her son got on his feet and took his daughter back. But temporary turned into months and then years and eventually Jean's granddaughter just became her own daughter. Maybe this was her second chance at being the mother she wished she had been before.

Without any financial assistance or any assistance of any kid, Jean raised her granddaughter better than most biological moms. She provided all of her granddaughter's needs both financially and emotionally. Jean's granddaughter never felt like she was a burden or unwelcome. It was home to her. Her grandmother became the mother that she never had.

Without a doubt, Jean gave her granddaughter a life that she would not have otherwise had. She made a difference in her granddaughter's life and never thought twice about doing so. She had been given a second chance to do things right and she never once let that chance slip through her fingers. She got to be a mom again...even if it was at a time when most enjoy their freedom. Jean was a warrior mom, though she had not given birth to her "child", it was her child none the less.
